Chikungunya can cause a fever, intense joint pains, a rash, fatigue, nausea and muscle pains. Chikungunya virus is responsible and it is spread by the bites of Aedes species of mosquito. These predominantly bite during the day, from sunrise until sunset and can also transmit dengue fever, Zika virus and yellow fever.
Chikungunya fever occurs in more than 100 countries in Africa, Asia, North, South and Central America, the Caribbean and Pacific islands. It has occasionally occurred in Italy and France but the infection has not become common in Europe.
There is no specific treatment for chikungunya virus infection but Mangal Pharmacy can administer Vimkunya injection by Bavarian Nordic as a vaccine to provide immunity to the virus. The vaccine is licenced for use in clinically appropriate individuals aged 12 years and over. A single dose is sufficient to provide protection for most people.
Sometimes the risks of being vaccinated outweigh the benefits. Hence, an individual risk assessment is carried out prior to each vaccination. Your booking confirmation email will contain a link to an essential form. Please access and submit that form as soon as possible.
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations to qualify for a refund. We reserve the right to charge an administration fee for a cancelled booking.
