Travellers visiting a region with a typhoid risk should have the typhoid vaccine at least 2 weeks before travel. There are two different types of typhoid vaccines: an injection or a course of oral medication. Which type of vaccine is suitable for you depends on your age and medical history. The injection is one dose into the upper arm and provides protection for 3 years. The injection is suitable for children over the age of 2.
